'It's a story everyone needs to hear, presented in a crazy fun way.'

The national tour of Godspell will be landing in St. Louis on November 15. The musical, which will play the Peabody Opera House, features the classic songs “Day By Day, “By My Side” and more. As Jesus, Jake Stern loves taking the lessons of the New Testament and performing them the Godspell way.

“The best part about playing Jesus is that I get to share his parables with a fresh audience every night,” Stern says. “It's a story everyone needs to hear, presented in a crazy fun way.”

Godspell is the story of Jesus and his disciples, told through an infectious pop-rock score by Grammy-winning composer Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin). “This music is fantastic and so diverse. It has a nice pop-rock edge to it that sits well with our cast.”

Stern’s onstage following includes Graham Parkhurst as Judas and an ensemble of disciples featuring Stacey Bulmer, Michael Hogeveen, Ivan Lo, Alessia Lupiano, Rebecca McCauley, Lisa Michelle, Janelle Murray, Michael De Rose and David Cotton.

“Jesus showed so much love for his community. Being able to perform that love every day really helps me become more like him,” Stern said of the show, which will run through November 17. “[Godspell] helps you grow and spread the love.”
